A Scientific Initiative on/for Border Abolitionism

After Border Deaths: Traces, Memory, Solidarity.

Solroutes researchers Michela Lovato and Paolo Cuttitta participated in this thought-provoking roundtable in Palermo with colleagues Alessandro Corso, Nives Ladina and Giorgia Mirto

Border deaths do not end with the death or disappearance of the individuals concerned. Every casualty has deep consequences of emotional, legal, economic and practical nature: not only for family members, friends and communities of the victims but also for the broader communities of the places and regions where deaths occur or are reported, or where corpses are registered, examined, buried. Border deaths leave traces, produce memory, inspire solidarity.
