Invitation to the SOLROUTES Film Presentation and Workshop
This workshop is organized in collaboration with Mauritanie Perspectives and AMPEF
We are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the film “Main-land” (2022), directed by Jose Gonzalez Morandi, about migration and informal solidarity in the Canary Islands. The film – narrated in Spanish, English, Wolof, and French, with subtitles in French and Arabic – is intended as an opportunity to discuss the theme with a selected audience of guests, based on their views and experiences in Mauritania.
This workshop, organized in collaboration with Mauritanie Perspectives and AMPEF, is part of the European research project SOLROUTES (Solidarities and Migrants’ Routes Across Europe At Large- www.solroutes.eu) of the University of Genoa (Italy). The project, which uses art and film as a narrative language, aims to be an ethnographic journey along migratory routes, with people on the move and the solidarity initiatives accompanying them. The workshop is launching a research and filming project on the relationship between mobility, gold, and fishing, which will run throughout February.
The session will include a presentation of the project and the initiative, a screening of the film (45 minutes), a coffee break and a space for conversation. A similar session will be held in Nouadhibou on the following days.
Saturday, February 10th, 9.30am, at the hotel Iman Nouakchott
