SOLROUTES Exhibition: “Arts on the Move. Debordering Europe” – March 14, 2025
The SOLROUTES project is excited to announce a special event showcasing research outcomes through art, travel narratives, and border-crossing technologies. This dissemination day will take place on March 14, 2025, at Palazzo Ducale, bringing together academic perspectives with innovative artistic expressions.
The ERC Advanced Grant SOLROUTES project, led by Principal Investigator Professor Luca Queirolo Palmas of the University of Genoa, examines solidarity networks and unauthorized migration routes across Europe and its peripheries. Since its inception in 2023, the project has developed a unique methodological approach combining rigorous sociological research with visual and artistic explorations of human mobility.
The March 14 event represents a significant milestone in the project’s trajectory, as it transitions to focus on the EU’s Outermost Regions. This evolution reflects the project’s commitment to understanding Europe “from the margins” and examining the sociopolitical dynamics of border regimes.
The day-long program includes:
Academic contributions from the research teams of multiple university courses, including:
-
Theories and Techniques of Communication (Prof. Rassa Ghaffari)
-
Visual Sociology (Prof. Luca Queirolo Palmas)
-
Media Sociology (Prof. Chiara Lanini)
-
Deviance and Social Control (Prof. Enrico Fravega)
-

With special guests Andres Antebi and Anna Daneri.
The day concludes with a preview of the MOBS exhibition at Palazzo Grillo with A. Milotta.
The “Arts on the Move: Debordering Europe” virtual exhibition represents an innovative approach to artistic engagement with migration research. Visit https://solroutesexhibition.eu/ to explore how the project uses digital spaces to examine border transgressions, solidarity networks, and the experiences of people on the move.
This exhibition stands at the intersection of academic research and artistic practice, offering a unique perspective on what the SOLROUTES team describes as “solidarity in motion” – the dynamic networks that facilitate unauthorized movement across borders while challenging dominant narratives about migration.
